Redlands Cycling Classic (Redlands CC) is one of the most prestigious and longest-running NRC races. This year marked the 29th anniversary and you could feel the love for this classic all over town. Folks in the community really come together and participate- either hosting riders, volunteering their time organizing the event, marshaling or joining in on the festivities. It was truly amazing to see and experience!! The Redlands CC is the big “opener” race of the season- a good place to scope out all the big teams and get a little taste of the season to come.
This time, we were a squad of eight riders, including: Jade, Janel, Joelle, Denise, Annie, Amber, Courteney and myself. Jade and Janel had just arrived back to the states from racing HARD in Europe and the others arrived a few days prior, ready and eager to race. The Time-Trial (TT) was different this year- held at elevation plus along Big Bear Lake! The TT proved to be one of the most technical courses in the NRC – a real power course!
Overall, we were really pleased with our result, despite struggling the last stage. We placed on the podium in 3 out of the 4 stages and placed 2nd overall for Team General Classification (GC). Great communications and executed our team strategy almost perfectly.
A recap/report of each stage written nicely by Rachel Heal, our team director below.
Looking forward to racing the fast and technical Charlotte Criterium this Saturday (April 13th). Lots of GREAT primes and prizes!!!!!
