Guest Riding for FCS|ROUSE Elite at Aspen/Snowmass!

Yippee! I’ve been officially invited to guest ride for FCS|ROUSE Elite Cycling Team at the Aspen/Snowmass PRO women’s challenge held August 20th-22nd in Aspen, CO! I’ll be racing with some fine, fast women at 8,000 ft + elevation. Better get some miles in around Hood @ 5,600 feet- as close to the elevation I’ll experience in Aspen. I’m super excited to be a part of this team and race my bike with the PROs!

Schedule – August 20th-22nd

  • 8/20: Stage 1- Prologue Time Trial. 9 Mile Uphill race to the beautiful Maroon Bells.
  • 8/21: Stage 2 – 35 mile circuit race around scenic Snowmass. Last year Kristin Armstrong (Olympic Gold Medalist) won this stage from a two-woman breakaway.
  • 8/22: Stage 3 – Fast and technical criterium in front of the thousands of fans lined up to see the finish of the men’s race in downtown Aspen.

An Update from Cascade Cycling Classic

Howdy folks! I’m currently racing with a little composite team I put together (along with David Aldersebeas and Anna Christensen) for the Cascade Cycling Classic – a 5 day PRO stage race. We are among 26 PRO and composite teams and among OLYMPIANS including Kristin Armstrong.

Cascade site here:

Our composite team is called “Ironclad p/b YAKIMA” and consists of myself, Rosalyn Zylkowski and Ivy Audrain (they race locally for Keller-Rohrback). Composite means that the team is formed for one event – most commonly stage racing (multi-day races). A typical stage race, such as Cascade, consists of: Prologue, 2 road races, a time trial, a criterium and a circuit race.

Unfortunately after much effort, my teammates dropped out due to time cut and fatigue. I thank them both for working hard to rock this race and support me along the way. It’s just me out here now,  but I have allies on other teams 🙂 As we were a team of 3, we are not eligible for overall team GC (General Classification)…

I’m currently sitting at 37th overall in GC after I placed 15th out of 90 women in the Time Trial (TT) today and yesterday 40th in the 74 mile road race over McKenzie pass in Bend, OR. Feels really good especially since I’m among some FAST women and Olympians!!!! Super awesome!!!!

Wish me luck as I race the Cascade Lakes Road Race tomorrow, followed by Saturday’s Criterium in Downtown Bend and Sunday’s Circuit Race!

Remember to follow me on Twitter @briewalle for fast updates 🙂
